Children's acute pathway

Children's acute (hospital) care has been identified as a priority area for both commissioners and providers and we are now reviewing how people access care to make sure our services are sustainable for the future.

To do this, we're assessing the current pathways across the region against the Royal College of Paediatricians Standards of Acute Care, 'Facing the Future.' As well as measuring our services against these national standards, we are reviewing the current workforce across all our provider organisations to ensure that we are able to deliver and provide services in a safe and sustainable way - now and in the years to come.

Through a self-assessment against the joint national standards, we are also reviewing local provision at a commissioning (CCG) level to determine whether services are sustainable, whether we need to make changes or whether we need to consider new models of care.
